Our former president and founder, Ben Parrish, achieved unsurpassed success in the bereavement tribute market. Beginning in 1958, Ben began the relationships throughout North America that amount to thousands of devoted United Memorial customers. Ben forged our strong commitment to:

These are the enduring principles that led him to form United Memorial. Thousands in the labor movement remember Ben both at convention exhibits and also as the vocalist who often performed the national anthem to open conventions.

Another face many of you will remember from conventions is Tom Williams. Before joining United Memorial in 1986, Tom was an employee of the Chrysler Corporation in Indiana for 30 years. While there, he served as Financial Secretary of his local union, UAW 685 in Kokomo, Indiana, for three consecutive terms. Joining United Memorial, Tom was a dedicated employee with our company for 19 years.

Carol Williams, Tom’s wife, has also worked with United Memorial for many years. She is a proud member of UFCW 1995 and serves as our union steward. Carol is our union market manager and takes great pride in the customer service provided by our team. She arrives at work very early, each day, in order to be available to take orders, answer questions and just visit over the phone with the hundreds of customers that she cares for. In this age of voice prompts, messaging and recorded instructions, Carol does business the old fashioned way, one on one, with our union accounts.
